چکیده

Early diagnosis and probabilistic antibiotic therapy based on known bacterial ecology sensibility can reduce mortality morbidity in pathologies caused by a infection. This study aimed at determining the prevalence risk factors of extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs)-producing Escherichia coli isolated from blood cultures neonates infants population. We conducted cross-sectional during which pathogenic bloodstream isolates were identified. Antibiotic susceptibility test was performed phenotypic confirmation ESBL production double-disc synergy test. Over course this study, 298 129 (43.3%) positive obtained. Of isolates, 90 (69.7%) 39 (30.2%) other bacteria strains that included Klebsiella oxytoca, Streptococcus pneumonia, Coagulase-negative staphylococci. indicated resistant to cephalosporin, penicillin, sulfonamide, aminoglycoside families. Further analysis 31 (34.4%) producers for infection ESBL-producing prior exposure antibiotics immune system depression. These findings clearly extend our understanding type initiated neonates, also provides useful information guide establishment an efficient therapeutic strategy community- hospital-acquired

Bloodstream infections caused by ESBL-producing E. coli and K. pneumoniae: risk factors for multidrug-resistance.

This prospective case-control study was conducted from October 2003 to June 2007 to evaluate risk factors for multidrug resistance among extended-spectrum-b-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella spp. (ESBL-EK) isolates in blood cultures. All adult patients (>18 years old) whose blood cultures grew ESBL-EK during the study period were included. An ESBL-EK isolate was defined as MDR...

Characterization of Multidrug Resistant ESBL-Producing Escherichia coli Isolates from Hospitals in Malaysia

The emergence of Escherichia coli that produce extended spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and are multidrug resistant (MDR) poses antibiotic management problems. Forty-seven E. coli isolates from various public hospitals in Malaysia were studied. All isolates were sensitive to imipenem whereas 36 were MDR (resistant to 2 or more classes of antibiotics). PCR detection using gene-specific primers ...

ESBL-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae at a tertiary care hospital in Saudi Arabia.

INTRODUCTION The increasing frequency and antibiotic resistance among extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs)-producing bacteria are posing a serious threat. This study sought to investigate the frequency and antibiotic susceptibility of ESBL-producing E. coli and K. pneumoniae at a tertiary care hospital. METHODOLOGY Data were collected from samples sent to the microbiology laboratory between...

HIV and chlamydia infections among prostitutes in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Eleven selected prostitute leaders were recruited who subsequently recruited 157 of their peers, bringing the total to 168. Sera was collected and tested for antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 using a commercial enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA); positive cases were confirmed by Western Blot (Dupont). A direct immunofluorescent method was performed on smears from the endocervical junction....

Prevalence of ESBL-Producing Enterobacteriaceae in Pediatric Bloodstream Infections: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND Pediatric bloodstream infections (BSIs) with Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase- producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE) are associated with worse clinical outcomes. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of and the mortality associated with ESBL-PE in this patient population. METHODS A systematic review and meta-analysis using PubMed and EMBASE and included studies reporting the prevale...
